PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 16-year-old Cranston boy was arrested early Saturday after Providence police found a loaded handgun under his seat in a car.
Just before 2:30 a.m., Sgt. Robert Yekelchik noticed a Honda on Anthony Avenue with its lights off and engine running near a chimi food truck that had been robbed recently.
As Yekelchik approached, a boy in the front passenger seat suddenly bent over, according to a police report.
The boy said he was just putting his "do rags" on the floor, the report said. Yekelchik saw the do rags -- and a loaded .9 mm Ruger, the report said.
The boy was charged and is being held at the Rhode Island Training School, said Sgt. Bernard Gannon Jr.
