NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Two people were taken to Rhode Island Hospital after a two-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of Route 146 near the Massachusetts line shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Fire officials said at least one of the two had to be extricated from the vehicle using a mechanical device.
