PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- A 24-hour parking ban will begin at noon Saturday, the city announced in a news release Friday.
The ban comes as the city is expecting 3 to 5 inches to fall Saturday and early Sunday. The city declares winter storm emergencies if two or more inches of snow is predicted.
"Our goal is to get as many vehicles as possible off the street as soon as possible," Public Works Director Lance Hill said.
Vehicle owners can find off-street parking on the city's website or by calling (401) 727-9100, ext. 888 and listening to the automated message.
Vehicles must be moved out of the designated lots within two hours of the ban being lifted.
