EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A woman backing out of her Algonquin Road driveway and an 8-year-old boy on a scooter collided at about 4:20 p.m. Friday, police Lt. Armen Garo said Friday night.
Garo said the woman went to find the boy's father elsewhere on Algonquin, and the boy was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital with possible broken bones.
As police began to arrive, the woman pulled into the nearby rear lot of 405 N. Broadway, where, as Garo said, she began removing possible incriminating evidence from her vehicle. The vehicle began to roll, crushing her against another vehicle, he said, and continued to roll, entering the street.
The woman was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, Garo said. An investigation continues.
