ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- An Amtrak Acela Express train struck and killed a person walking on tracks near the Attlelboro train station Wednesday afternoon, according to Cliff Cole, an Amtrak spokesman.
Cole said the name and gender of the victim were not immediately available. He said the Washington-to-Boston train, with 197 passengers and crew aboard, struck the person around 1 p.m.
He said rail traffic was shut down for 90 minutes as authorities investigated. By mid-afteroon one track had reopened, and there were minor delays, he said.
