PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- U.S. House Republican leaders are committing to voting Friday on a portion of the proposed federal aid for states affected by superstorm Sandy, but Rhode Island's congressional delegation says it's not enough.
U.S. Rep. James Langevin late Wednesday complained that it still "unnecessarily adds weeks of complication and delay," arguing that Republicans have still not made it clear what exactly they are "objecting to or concerned about, or as to what would change in the intervening days."
U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, who authorized several provisions of last year's Senate version of the bill, also expressed frustration.
"It's frankly very puzzling to me why they would not take up a bill that we have already passed in the Senate by a very strong bipartisan majority," he said. "This is really just an example of the dysfunction that we have seen" in the House.
