The North American River Otter enjoys the winter weather at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence on Friday, running around in the snow and hiding in its hollowed-out log.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- In answer to a common question at this time of year: No, the animals at Roger Williams Park Zoo are not sent to warmer climates to escape the cold and snow. Those less hardy are sheltered and protected in other ways when need be, but the zoo remains open -- with all of its animals in residence, as always.

To entice the public, the zoo is offering reduced admission through the end of February with its Winter Wonder Days. Admission through the end of next month is $7.50 for adults; $4.95 for children ages 3 to 12; and $6.50 for seniors, age 62 and older. Zoo members and children under 3 are always free. The Zoo is open daily year-round from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with last admission at 3:30 p.m.
