PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A New Jersey man who arranged to have sex with an 8-year-old girl in Rhode Island through an online posting was sentenced Monday to serve life in prison plus 10 years.
Donald J. Jones III of Pemberton, N.J., fell into a trap on the Web that was set by a U.S. Postal Service inspector posing as the father of a nonexistent girl. The inspector was on a task force working on crimes against children.
U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith sentenced Jones on six counts.
Jones previously was convicted in state court in New Jersey of the sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl.
