WARWICK, R.I. -- The Warwick Police Department will hold an eight-week "Citizens Police Academy" starting Sept. 12.
The free academy, which run through Nov. 6, offers hands-on training similar to that that officers receive to strengthen community partnerships. It is open to Warwick residents and city workers, 18 or older with no criminal record.
The classes will be held Wednesday nights at the Warwick Police Department, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive.
Those interested must register by Aug. 29.
Class size is limited to 35 participants.
