WARWICK, R.I. -- Police say they have closed an investigation into allegations that a city worker took loam from the Public Works yard.
"The case is closed at this time," Capt. Robert Nelson, commander of the detectives unit, said. "We have received no substantive evidence ... that the dirt was taken from the city yard."
Police launched the investigation in mid-November after WPRI Channel 12 told the city it had film footage that would show that a public works employee had taken loam from the city yard and spread it over a friend's yard, city officials said at the time.
Neither police nor city officials have named the employee.
