WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- The Rhode Island Department of Health has suspended the license of a Warwick pharmacist it says allowed unlicensed individuals to practice as pharmacy technicians.
The department says a Board of Pharmacy inspection last week found that Richard Mancini let unlicensed individuals prepare sterile pharmaceutical compounds at the PharMerica pharmacy on Vermont Avenue in Warwick. It also says he failed to maintain sanitary conditions in the pharmacy anteroom and sterile room and didn't conduct required monthly environmental monitoring.
Mancini is identified as the pharmacist-in-charge.
The department also ordered PharMerica to stop compounding sterile medications.
An attempt to reach Mancini was unsuccessful. An employee at PharMerica who answered the phone but did not give his full name said he had no comment.
