HOPKINTON, R.I. -- A 20-year-old man is being held on a charge of first-degree child molestation after he was arrested at home Friday by Hopkinton and Richmond police.
Jonathan A. Maggs, 20, of Wolf Court, Richmond, appeared in District Court, Wakefield, on Friday and was ordered held without bail until a Jan. 16 hearing.
The arrest was the result of a weeklong investigation initiated by a parental complaint, Hopkinton Chief David S. Palmer said. Maggs was found to have been in a three-month sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl, Palmer said, who is too young to give consent, but, "She did not try to fight him off."
The charge resulted from Maggs being older than 18 and the girl younger than 14.
