PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island residents affected by superstorm Sandy are getting some extra time to register with the federal government for possible assistance.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it has extended the deadline to register until Feb. 13.
FEMA encourages residents who experienced losses in the storm to register even if they aren't sure they qualify for assistance.
FEMA says $9.8 million in federal support has been given to people and public entities affected by the October storm.
