PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Since taking office a little more than two years ago, state General Treasurer Gina Raimondo has gained national attention for spearheading a reform of the state's pension system, but she's done more than that, her office said Monday.
According to a report her office released Monday, Raimondo and her staff have also helped cities and towns save money on their pension plans, reduced the state's borrowing costs and banking costs and eliminated the waiting list for the state's victim-compensation program.
Raimondo said the report is intended to show what she has done after two years, not promote her as a possible candidate for higher office. She said she still has not decided if she will run for governor in 2014.
