PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- An extraordinary two days of brainstorming ways to heal Rhode Island's sickly economy ended Saturday at noon with the enthusiastic consensus that the state already has an abundance of resources and thinkers to build a better tomorrow.
The job now, some 150 attendees at the "Make it Happen RI" forum agreed, is, well, making it happen.
Dozens of concrete means to accomplish just that were proposed at the Rhode Island Convention Center gathering, hosted by the non-profit Rhode Island Foundation.
"I know things can get done," said foundation head Neil D. Steinberg.
The two-day meeting brought together businesspeople, artists, educators, financiers, designers, architects, health-care professionals, media members, manufacturers, planners, marketers, union leaders, philanthropists, chamber of commerce officials, and others.
