U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Women's Health has awarded YWCA of Rhode Island a grant for a Spanish language heart attack awareness campaign, the YWCA and Central Falls Mayor James Diossa announced on Thursday.

The grant will pay for activities and events to raise awareness of the 7 most common heart attack symptoms in women for Spanish speaking Hispanic women over the age of 50 living in Central Falls.

The Make the Call. Don't Miss a Beat campaign will also use advertising, information and events to encourage them to call for assistance.

"This funding will allow YWCA to educate women on the range of
symptoms of a heart attack and empower them to call 9-1-1 to save
their own life or the life of their mother or loved one." Deborah
L. Perry, president/chief executive officer of YWCA Rhode Island said in a news release.
