CRANSTON, R.I. -- Saying that the city was "hit hard" by the storm, Mayor Allan Fung said his office is tracking power outages and having public works crews get main roads clear before moving to side streets.
With more than 12,000 residents without power, he said late Saturday morning that he will be talking to National Grid officials shortly.
More than 30 trees are down on the eastern side of the city. "We've got a lot to clean up," he said.
Out patrolling the city through much of the storm, Fung said that one of the main concerns during white-out conditions overnight was the safety of plow drivers.
"We were telling them to pull over when necessary," he said. "We told them, 'Don't try to be heroes.' ''
