Suspended North Providence police Sgt. Michael Ciresi is found guilty of 9 of 10 counts, including two burglaries, capping a probe that started in 2004 when a man caught in an armed home invasion of a drug dealer in Pawtucket told the police that Ciresi had given him the gun. Ciresi is a son of former North Providence Town Solicitor Robert Ciresi.

The state Senate unanimously confirms the appointment of Rogeriee Thompson as a District Court judge. She is the first black woman appointed to the bench in Rhode Island.
