EAST PROVIDENCE, RI -- State and local officials are expected at a ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon for Tockwotton on the Waterfront, a 156-room assisted living residence and nursing home that opened on Jan. 12.
The $52.3-million building is the new location of Tockwotton Home, formerly in Providence's Fox Point. The facility's nursing home is divided into three "households" that exemplify the philosophy of "patient-directed" care.
Tockwotton is also the first development in a project to convert a 14-mile, 300-acre strip along the Seekonk and Providence Rivers into residences and businesses.
Among those expected to attend the ribbon-cutting are U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, Governor Chafee, Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts, General Treasurer Gina Raimondo, Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, and Mayor James Briden.
