Habitat for Humanity Greater Providence names new director

By Christine DunnPROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Connie Hanner has been named executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Rhode Island - Greater Providence, the affiliate announced Friday.

Hanner was formerly the executive director of a Habitat affiliate in western Kentucky.

"Working with Habitat for Humanity is a personal mission for me." says Hanner, who said she has seen how home ownership transforms families. "... They help build the home with their own hands. ... Pride in ownership of the home develops into ownership in their community."

Hanner replaces Herman deKoe, who was executive director for the last 13 years before retiring.
