NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- The police were called to the Bank Newport in the Stop & Shop plaza at 1350 Ten Rod Rd. (Route 102) where bank personnel reported that a man who did not show a weapon gave a teller a note demanding money at about 2 p.m. Wednesday.
After the teller complied, the man left going north toward Route 102, North Kingstown, police Detective Lt. Christopher E. Emerson said in a news release.
The man was described as white, about 5-foot-10, of medium build, unshaven and wearing a gray knit cap and dark full-length overcoat. Anyone with information about the robbery can call (401) 294-3316 or e-mail tips@northkingstown.org, while remaining anonymous.
