NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- David J. Kennedy, 23, was arrested in Providence on Tuesday, shortly after a complaint in North Smithfield about a domestic assault that resulted in an injury to the victim, a police detective said in a news release Friday afternoon.
Patrol officers and detectives learned that the assault was part of a kidnapping that began the night before in Uxbridge, Mass.
Providence officers turned Kennedy over to North Smithfield officers, who charged him in District Court, Warwick, with domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct. He was also presented as a fugitive from justice in the kidnapping incident and is wanted on Lincoln warrants.
He is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston on $50,000 double surety bail, meaning two property owners must pledge the total or put up 20 percent in cash.
