PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Gas prices in Rhode Island increased, on average, another 3 cents per gallon over the past week, according to AAA Southern New England.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline at Ocean State self-service pumps is $3.829, up 28 cents the past month, according to AAA's weekly survey.
Rhode Island drivers are paying 5 cents more per gallon than the $3.779 they were paying at this time last year and 5 cents more per gallon than the current national average of $3.779.
AAA's survey found a 19-cent range in price, from a low of $3.759 to a high of $3.949.
On Friday, a survey by the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources found the average price at $3.84, while the price of unleaded plus was at 4.00. Premium unleaded reached an averag of $4.15 at self-serve pumps.
