EXETER, R.I. -- A Providence man was charged with drunken driving on Saturday after he flipped his car and injured his 7-year-old son and another passenger in the vehicle he was operating, state police said.

Shawn Peno, 40, of 30 Messer St., was arrested at the intersection of Route 102 and South Road when state troopers found his car resting on the driver's side at 12:15 a.m. Peno, his son and the other passenger were transported to Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence. The state police said all three suffered ``minor injuries.''

Troopers reported that Exeter Fire and Rescue used a hydraulic extrication device to remove Peno from his vehicle. They said he, his son and the other passenger all wore seat belts.
