SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- Four University of Rhode Island students have been arrested after the police began investigating the use of a stolen credit card, the police said.
Gibran Gonzalez, 20, of 701 Manton Ave., Providence, faces two charges of fraudulent use of a credit card and possession of marijuana, first offense, all misdemeanors.
Kyle Evans, 20, of 84 Lubec St., Providence, faces a felony charge of possession of OxyContin and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, first offense, and possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.
Edwin Lonardo, 21, of 14 Lynn St., Providence, faces a felony count of possession of MDMA (ecstasy).
Opeyemi Onipede, 19, of 35 Stansbury St., Providence, was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, a misdemeanor.
All were released on a promise to appear in court.
One of the men, the police said, had been identified in connection to an investigation into the use of a stolen credit card. Wednesday, with a search warrant, the authorities searched the men's residence and came upon the drugs.
Correction: A previous version of this post (published at 11:16 a.m.), said the arrest was made at a URI men's dormitory. According to a URI spokesman, the incident occurred at a private residence on Upper College Road.
