WARWICK, R.I. -- Passenger use of T.F. Green Airport declined 6 percent in February when compared to the same month a year ago, according to numbers made public Thursday by the state agency that runs the airport, but things could have been much worse.
February of last year was a Leap Month, so it had an extra day, and February this year lost two days of air travel to a blizzard. If everything else remained the same, those three fewer days this year would have accounted for a 10 percent drop in the number of passengers using the airport.
Instead, the month saw the 6 percent decline, from 265,769 in 2012 to 249,554 this year.
