PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A 31-year-old former Warwick resident has been sentenced to 2½ years in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender.
The U.S. Attorney's office and other law enforcement officials said Corey Kidd was sentenced in federal court in Providence. He pleaded guilty in September.
Prosecutors say Kidd failed to notify police when he moved out of a Warwick residence sometime before March 1, 2012. He was arrested in Florida last May on a federal warrant issued by the U.S. District Court in Providence.
Authorities say Kidd was convicted in Rhode Island state court in 2000 on a third-degree sexual assault charge. His five-year prison sentence was suspended. He was given five years of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.
