JOHNSTON, R.I. -- The police charged a 22-year-old woman with shoplifting after she admitted to stealing a $700 poodle puppy that had been on display at the Pure Paradise Pets store at 39 Putnam Ave.
Nicole Vizcaino, of 2 Sebille Rd., Smithfield, surrendered to police after learning that she was being sought in the connection with the disappearance of the dog. Her boyfriend, Robert Gilleran, told police he didn't know she had taken the puppy by hiding it under her coat until she phoned him later on March 19 to ask he buy dog food.
Vizcaino, who is facing assault charges stemming from another incident in February, pleaded no contest to one count of larceny and was ordered to pay court costs.
