PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Daniel Harrop says he's no longer going to challenge his one-vote loss to Mark Smiley for chairmanship of the Rhode Island Republican party.
"While I understand some delegates intend to challenge the results of the vote from last week based on various irregularities in the process, it is no longer my intention to pursue the chairmanship," the doctor said in a message posted on this Facebook account Thursday.
In a Twitter message, Harrop appeared to be taking his loss in stride, saying, "Celebrating my withdrawal from the RI GOP Chairman race tonight by having a drink at the Hot Club with [Providence City Council president] Michael Solomon and discussing my 2014 Providence Mayoral run."
