James Paul of Coventry kisses his son Troy Paul, born July 31, 2012, after returning home from Kuwait. He was able to come home on emergency leave when his son was born so this was the 2nd time he has seen him. View a gallery of photos.
WARWICK, R.I. - - Some 130 soldiers of the 1/126th Aviation Regiment of the Rhode Island National Guard who have been deployed in Kuwait for a year returned home Thursday to spouses, some of whom cried, parents who held up welcome signs and children who screamed for "mommy" and "daddy."
The unit arrived at T.F. Green Airport and walked across the street to the Warwick Armory.
James Paul, 24, of Coventry embraced his wife, Kayla Rebeiro, 21, and mom, Kim Paul, then he picked up his two-and-half-month-old son, Troy, and held him up for everyone to see.
Paul had come home on emergency leave to see his son when he was born but had to go back overseas shortly afterwards.
"We feel really, really good," Rebeiro said.
