WARWICK, R.I. -- Two Warwick men have been arrested on charges of filing a false police report after they told the authorities a driver threatened them with a knife after a road rage incident.
It turns out, state police said, the men were the ones who pulled a knife -- on a North Kingstown man.
James Maione, and Charles Cabral, both 22, said they were driving south on Route 2 when they became involved in a road-rage incident. Both cars stopped by the side of the road and the other driver, they said, pulled out a knife.
Maione and Cabral were arrested at the State Police Wickford Barracks, where they had driven to file the complaint. In addition to filing a false report, Cabral was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (the knife, found in one of his pockets), disorderly conduct, possession of a knife over three inches.
