WARWICK, R.I. - A Warwick motorcyclist who was injured Tuesday in a collision with a truck on Cowesett Road has died, the police announced on Thursday.

John Barbour, 30, of Tourtellot Avenue, was taken to Kent Hospital and then to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died, according to a news release.

The truck driver, Jason Shepard, 34, of Providence, was not injured.

The motorcycle was traveling west on Cowesett Road about 6 p.m., and the truck was headed east, turning left onto Hardig Road, when the collision occurred, the police said, adding that the motorcycle's speed may have been a factor.

Barbour was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Investigators asked that any person with information about the crash contact the Warwick Police Department Traffic Division at (401) 468-4343.

(This is a correction from the 4:23 p.m. post, in which the motorcyclist's first name was incorrect.)
