PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Dr. David M. Steigman has accepted a reprimand for unprofessional conduct from the Department of Health's Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline, a health department consent order says.
Steigman, 54, whose office is at 235 Plain St., Suite 306, practices primarily internal medicine with privileges at Rhode Island Hospital. Those privileges were suspended for 90 days because of disruptive behavior in a private meeting with a hospital staff member in 2011, the consent order says.
By signing the order Sept. 30, the doctor waived his right to appear before the board, produce witnesses, introduce evidence, cross-examine witnesses and appeal or object to the consent order.
Having completed hospital sanctions, he remains on probation for two years from Oct. 10, the order says.
