PROVIDENCE _ A group of more than 50 patients waited in line this morning for the historic opening of the state's first medical marijuana dispensary.
The line began forming about 45 minutes before the Thomas C. Slater Compassion Center opened its doors at 1 Corliss St. The non-descript building is located directly across from the main post office that includes a huge mail-sorting operation.
The patients appeared to range in age from their 20s to nearly 70 years old. Several expressed anger at a reporter who had an iPhone with a camera on the sidewalk outside the center.
Chirs Reilly, Slater spokesman, said that no reporters or photographers would be permittted inside the center during business hours. He said that officials want to protect patients' confidentiality.
