Accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzohokar Tsarnaev has joined a cast of notorious Rhode Islanders at the Federal Medical Center at Fort Devens, a federal prison in Central Massachusetts.
Tsarnaev, 19, was transferred from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston overnight and moved to the prison outside of Worcester, Mass. He is recovering from a gunshot wound to the throat and other injuries he suffered following a shootout with police and his escape in Watertown last week.
Among the prisoners in the hospital wing at Fort Devens are two of Rhode Island's biggest exports: mobsters and crooked politicians. They include Anthony M. "The Saint'' St. Laurent Sr., 71, and Alfred Scivola, 72, two longtime underworld figures, as well as ex-State Rep. John J. McCauley Jr., 55, who represented Smith Hill for more than two decades.
