Today in RI history: House passes bill to stop discrimination based on sexual orientation

A year ago today:
Caleb Chafee, Governor Chafee's teenage son, pleads not guilty to accusations he tried to buy beer at a Jamestown liquor store earlier this month. A police report says Caleb Chafee, 18, invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination when questioned by the police shortly after the incident.


5 years ago today:

Tree scientists at the University of Rhode Island are appealing to hikers, anglers, bird watchers and other outdoors folk to help find healthy hemlocks that can be cloned.

25 years ago today:
The Rhode Island House passes a bill to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, despite an attempt by Rep. Maurice Caron, D-Pawtucket, who believes homosexuality is wrong, to dilute the measure.
