FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) -- Police in Massachusetts have arrested a Connecticut man they allege claimed he brought a bomb on to a Cape Cod-to-Martha's Vineyard ferry.

Falmouth police say 45-year-old Krzysztof Malz of New Britain, Conn., was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday after workers at the Steamship Authority's Woods Hole Terminal contacted police because a man preparing to board the ferry said he had a bomb in his car during a security screening.

Falmouth police and the state police bomb squad searched the boat, but found no threat.

Falmouth police say Malz told them it was a joke.

He was held overnight without bail pending his arraignment Monday on a charge of making a threat concerning the location of dangerous items.
