WARWICK, R.I. - - Kelly J. Fredericks, the new president of Rhode Island Airport Corporation says that he is starting the job by looking at all aspects of the corporation- including the fact that some of its smaller airports have long operated at a loss.
In addition to T.F. Green Airport -- which is the state's main airport -- the corporation owns smaller airports in Westerly, Newport, North Kingstown, Smithfield and on Block Island.
And while a couple of the smaller locations operate at a profit, Fredericks said Monday that others are running in the red.
Currently, he said, there is no plan to sell those locations, but he does want to start a dialogue about them and if they should be retained in the future.
