PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee is heading to Vermont this weekend to attend the annual conference of the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
The conference brings together the six New England governors and their Canadian counterparts to discuss "issues and priorities of relevance to both regions and promote closer economic ties," according to a news release from Chafee's office.
This year's conference is titled "Energy and Transportation Opportunities for Economic Growth" and focuses on opportunities for building a "clean and cost-effective energy future and advancing cross-border transportation systems."
The conference runs from July 29 to 30, and will be hosted by Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin.
Chafee is expected to return to Rhode Island on Monday.
