PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Grammy-nominated singer Jeffrey Osborne will hand out checks to several Rhode Island charities from a celebrity golf tournament that raised money for them in August.

Osborne is a Providence native best known for his 1980s hit "On the Wings of Love."

The Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic at the Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth brought in well-known names such as Magic Johnson, Smokey Robinson, Pat Riley, The O'Jays, Sinbad, John Havlicek and others to raise money.

Checks will be given out on Tuesday at Providence's MET School to charities including the MET School, Amos House, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence and the Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic.
