Rhode Island Independence Day Celebration New nonprofit organization Spirits of '76 Rhode Island Chapter hosts an event featuring live music and a discussion of civic virtue in a free society to commemorate Rhode Island's declaration of independence from Britain. Touch-a-Truck
Kids can take photos with mascots from the PawSox and Providence Bruins and climb on more than 30 vehicles, including military vehicles, a fire truck and construction vehicles. The event also includes a blood drive, for adults, to benefit RI Blood Center. Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. $5 per person or $20 for a family.
