PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Rhode Island man arrested in Florida last month is being arraigned in the June murder of a man outside a car wash in Providence.
Jovani F. Torres, 31, who was found hiding at his sister's residence in Lake Mary, Fla., is to be arraigned on a murder indictment in Superior Court Monday afternoon.
Police had been searching for Torres after Ivan Taveras, 32, was murdered outside Ivan's Car Wash, as his young son played nearby.
The two ex-convicts had been friends, according to police.
Taveras had been convicted of murder at 16 and later convicted of carjacking a girlfriend. Torres had been convicted of dealing cocaine and later served time in federal prison on a firearms conviction.
