SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. - - A baby boy delivered shortly after his mother was killed in a car crash last month has also died.
Daryel Noah was delivered after his mother, Sullynette "Sully" Sanchez, died in a three-car crash Sept. 28 on Route 4 in East Greenwich.
The baby died this week, according to a press release from the University of Rhode Island announcing a celebration of Sanchez's life.
URI will celebrate Sanchez's life tonight with a ceremony at the university that will include guest speakers, performances and an open mic. Sanchez, 23, was in her ninth month of pregnancy when she died.
The memorial, which runs from 8 p.m. until midnight, will recall the joy that Sanchez brought to the community, according to URI. Sanchez was a 2011 URI graduate who earned her bachelors degree in psychology. She became a permanent member of the admissions staff last fall. Able to speak English and Spanish fluently she was a great asset to the admission team, the university said.
The event will take place at Memorial Union Ballroom, 50 Lower College Road at URI in Kingstown. Bracelets and balloons will be sold to support the Sanchez family. There will also be a raffle and donation box.
