MYSTIC, Conn. (AP) -- An animal rescue team from Mystic Aquarium is planning to release two seal pups into the waters off Rhode Island.
The 5-month-old harbor seal pups -- named Hershey and Brunswick -- were thin and dehydrated when they were found in Maine. They received treatment at the University of New England's Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center in Biddeford, Maine, before being transferred to the aquarium in Mystic, Conn.
The seals are to be released at Charlestown Breachway State Beach in Charlestown, R.I., on Tuesday morning.
Susan Sullivan of Ledyard, Conn., won the opportunity to accompany the release team by offering the highest bid at a fundraiser in June. She will open Hershey's carrier and release the seal back into the ocean.
