JOHNSTON, R.I. -- A 45-year-old Warren man who has been arrested 30 times before on assorted breaking and entering, narcotics and assault charges, was ordered held without bail Monday after a new arrest tied to the break-in at the home of a Johnston couple last fall.
Police said Austin Thorpe, of 511 Child St., was arrested by Cranston police and turned over to them after fingerprints lifted from a jewelry box at the break-in site on Bishop Hill Road were were found to belong to Thorpe.
They say he got into the home of Linda and Thomas Poland by tearing down the frame of a rear door, and then going on to steal $1,300 in jewelry, some of which were later pawned.
