PROVIDENCE, R. I. -- Native American jewelry, local artisan coffee and European clothing for men and women are among the finds visitors can soon purchase at the still being renovated Arcade Providence.
Six of its 17 retail tenants were unveiled in a news release Thursday. They are DASH Bicycle, Jessica Ricci Jewelry, New Harvest Coffee Roasters, Royal Male, Southwest Passage and Sugar Coated Heaven.
They plan to occupy the first floor of the landmark Arcade building, America's oldest indoor mall in downtown's Financial District, this summer. The basement will become an indoor bicycle garage, which Arcade officials say is the state's first.
Owner and developer Evan Granoff, of 130 Westminster Street Associates LLC, is transforming the top two floors into micro-loft apartments -- the last to be finished in the less than $10 million project.
A little more about the six announced retailers:
^ DASH was a small bicycle messenger company when it first opened on Broadway in 2009. At the Arcade, it will rent bikes, make repairs and sell accessories.
^ Jessica Ricci, a Rhode Island native, transforms finds from her travels to make her jewelry collection. It is her first store.
^ New Harvest Coffee, of Pawtucket, has been around since 2000. They will offer "single-origin coffees," teas, vintage whiskeys, pastry and sandwiches in one of the Arcade's three restaurant spaces, the news release says.
^ Royal Male is opening its third Rhode Island location at the Arcade. Specializing in British and European clothing, its two other stores are in Newport.
^ Southwest Passage has been selling handmade Native American jewelry and crafts at Wayland Square for the last seven years.
^ Sugar Coated Heaven are cookies, candy, chocolate covered strawberries and more
from Johnson & Wales University student Jennifer LaSala. She started selling her treats online as a senior in high school, but this is her first store.
