WARWICK, R.I. -- Three people were treated for injuries following a collision on Post Rd. at about 8:15 p.m. Friday.
Raymond Assaiante, 44, of Pawtucket, was driving north on Post Road and tried to turn left onto Maple Street when he
cut off a car traveling south on Post Road, Police Lt. Jamie Calise said. The cars then hit a third car at a stop sign on Maple Street, he said.
Assaiante, his 63-year-old male passenger, and a 21-year-old Warwick man who was waiting at the stop sign were taken by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.
Police charged Assaiante with refusal to submit to a chemical breath test and driving under the influence (first offense). The case is still under investigation, Lt. Calise said, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, he said.
