ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- More than 156 pages of search warrants returned from the murder investigation of Aaron Hernandez show that the former Patriots football star was hostile toward the detectives questioning him.
On the night of June 18, about five hours after a jogger discovered the bullet-ridden body of Odin L. Lloyd in an industrial pit near the Hernandez home in North Attleboro, investigators parked outside the star player's $1.3 million house.
Hernandez spotted the North Attleboro and Massachusetts State Police detectives outside his home through his video surveillance system. They asked Hernandez about a black Chevrolet Suburban that he had rented and was parked behind Lloyd's house in the Dorchester section of Boston.
Hernandez said that he rented the sport-utility vehicle for ''O'' or "Odin'' who was dating the sister of Shayanna Jenkins, Hernandez's live-in girlfriend.
The affidavit states that Hernandez grew angry with North Attleboro Detective Daniel Arrighi. "What's with all the questions?" Hernandez yelled.
Hernandez walked inside his house and told the detectives to contact his lawyer. He returned with his lawyer's business card, handed it to a detective and returned to his house. They told him they were investigating a death.
"Mr. Hernandez slammed the door and relocked it behind him," the affidavit states. "Mr. Hernandez did not ask officers whose death was being investigated."
About 10 minutes later, Hernandez came outside again and told the detectives that he would talk to them at the North Attleboro police station.
Jenkins, the girlfriend, drove Hernandez to the police station. There police told her about Lloyd's death and "she immediately began to cry," the affidavit states.
At the police station, Jenkins told investigators that Lloyd "smoked marijuana and was a marijuana dealer." Lloyd played semi-pro football for the Boston Bandits.
Jenkins told police that Lloyd was frequently on his cell phone "talking about marijuana sales."
On June 26, 10 days after Lloyd's body was found, Hernandez was charged with first-degree murder and five other weapons charges. He has been held without bail since his arraignment. Two other men who were with him the morning of murder also have been arrested and they are also in custody.
