PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The National Weather Service is predicting that the daytime temperature will linger in the 90s through Friday.
The Weather Service also issued a heat advisory to run Monday from noon to 8 p.m. The temperature is expected to top off at 93 degrees, with the afternoon and early evening expected to be the hottest. Coupled with the humidity, the feel-like temperatures could hit more than 100 degrees.
The agency urged people to avoid prolonged work in the sun or in poorly ventilated areas, and to check on relatives and neighbors.
Tuesday's weather is expected to match Monday's. On Wednesday there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.
