SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Hassenfeld Family Initiatives, a charitable business named after the Rhode Island-based toy company executive Alan G. Hassenfeld, has donated $1 million to Bryant University for its Institute for Public Leadership.
The university has renamed the center the Hassenfeld Institute for Public Leadership.
Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley and Alan G. Hassenfeld, chairman of Hasbro's Executive Committee, are scheduled to announce the gift Tuesday morning at the University's public leadership conference.
The event, "Public Leadership: Governing and the Art of the Possible," is expected to draw about 150 municipal leaders from throughout Rhode Island. The institute provides leadership programs to public officials and others involved in the development, management and implementation of public policy.
